Khuoi My – “Muse” of Ha Giang city

Few people know that in the bustling and crowded city of Ha Giang (Ha Giang province), there is still a wild, idyllic, strangely dreamy village called Khuoi My.
Khuoi My is the name of a small village located on the slopes of the Tay Con Linh range, in Phuong Do commune, only about 12 km from the center of Ha Giang city. With an altitude of 1,000 to 1,200 m and favorable natural conditions, the climate in Khuoi My village is cool and fresh all year round. Behind the village is the majestic Tay Con Linh mountain range, making the picture of this place even more magnificent.

Khuoi My village is actually a combination of three small villages: Na Thac, Khuoi My and Lung Vai. This area is mainly inhabited by the Dao ethnic group. In Khuoi My, people mainly work in agriculture. They grow food on terraced fields across the mountainside. Therefore, many people jokingly say that this is the second Hoang Su Phi of Ha Giang. With a cool climate all year round, the people live a peaceful and simple life and have a culture rich in national identity, Khuoi My has recently become more known to young people and has received a fair number of tourists. large, especially during the golden rice season.
Along the way to Khuoi My, you will see moss-covered stilt houses standing out among the terraced fields. Although today the village also has many modern corrugated iron-roofed houses, the rustic simplicity of the ethnic minorities still retains its identity and culture, creating a unique mark for the village.
Like many other beautiful villages in Ha Giang, visitors to Khuoi My, in addition to experiencing sightseeing, can also learn more about the life of the Dao people here. In particular, the indigenous people also give you wonderful experiences such as picking Cardamom under the canopy of the old forest; Picking ancient Shan Tuyet tea hundreds of years old on the slopes of the Tay Con Linh mountain range.

In addition to cultivating terraced fields, people here also dig small ponds to raise fish right next to their houses. The cool, clean water brought from the stream is very suitable for raising fish. People also grow vegetables, raise chickens and pigs, and release buffalo and goats in the forest. In addition, people also go to the forest and get products from Tay Con Linh forest, which also brings part of their income.
Mr. Dang Van Thanh, a son born and raised in the land of Khuoi My, is currently working as a tour guide said: “I am very lucky to be born in Khuoi My, a clean land, Friendly people and beautiful scenery. Since childhood, I have wished to be able to introduce the beauty of my homeland to many friends at home and abroad. That’s why I chose to be a tour guide and certainly my hometown of Khuoi My is a place that when I lead any group of tourists, I bring them here to experience.”
Realizing the great potential of local experiential tourism, Phuong Do Commune People’s Committee currently has many ways to attract tourists such as: Organizing Dao ethnic cultural festivals; organize English classes for indigenous people; planting peach blossoms, banyan flowers along the roads in the village, planting mustard flowers… At the same time, propagate and support households to roof their houses with traditional palm roofs instead of corrugated iron roofs to preserve the inherent uniqueness of their locality.
Hopefully with the available advantages of nature and people, along with the investment attention of party committees and authorities. Beautiful Khuoi My will be one of the province’s top tourist destinations, contributing to bringing the beautiful scenery and people of Ha Giang closer to domestic and foreign friends.
